The Monkees Live in Japan / October 1968
In late 1968, The Monkees toured Australia and Japan. In Japan, one of the concerts was filmed (most likely during the two day, three-concert stay at Budokan Hall in Tokyo on October 3 and 4, 1968) and later broadcast on Japanese television. The audio recording and video footage, however, has never been officially released. The audio (straight from the video) does exist as a bootleg (which can be heard here, complete with Japanese voice introductions before each song), but the video footage is presumed lost or destroyed. Monkees archivist Andrew Sandoval has confirmed that multiple attempts have been made to find the missing video footage. "It was definitely broadcast and there has been c...

to this day I am Eddie's guitar/amp tech (he even wrote a song for my wife and I) When he is in my shop , he serenades our granddaughter ! It's a real pity the Sundowners' never had a chart hit, they (especially Eddie) deserved more than history allotted them Buddha from Crestline Labs LLC.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is often questioned about who they acknowledge and induct and others who are really talented and successful out. KISS was not happy when after many decades despite their success of selling more albums than any other bands at the time, all the touring they did, which in the early days they were headliners they introduced the world to many bands who opened for them and later they became famous, were ignored by them.

I love the Monkees and have since their very first show on NBC back in the 1960s. Fast forward to the early 1980s and my 5 year old daughter loved them too without any prompting from me, as she watched reruns on Nick at Nite or some other channel. The thing is, she thought it was a new show and that the guys were still young. I bought their 20th anniversary album and that's when my daughter, a bit confused, discovered that her crush Davey was 20 years older than the episodes showed him. Many years later, my grandson watched Shrek and thought the Monkees tunes in it were new too. The Monkees keep gaining new fans in each generation. Long live The Monkees.
